The Texas DEI Committee recognizes that design challenges of the future will require the profession to grow and adapt. We envision a future in which Landscape Architecture professionals represent a diverse demographic of creative thinkers who engage in equitable and inclusive practices to continue to design and build healthy, resilient and beautiful landscapes.
goals:
1. Be a resource for Texas ASLA members for education and mentorship, maintaining a focus on reaching demographics that are historically underrepresented.
2. Continue to serve communities and our colleagues in a fair and equitable manner.
3. Establish a clear direction for Texas ASLA members towards conscious and responsible practices in regards to matters of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI).
4. Demonstrate ways in which Landscape Architecture professionals can be held accountable to the communities in which they practice.
5. Provide efficient and effective record keeping of goals and progress through maintaining a clear schedule with reasonable milestones for committee members.
6. Educate communities within and outside of the profession on the value and impact of community engagement, in particular as it relates to matters of DEI.
7. Advocate for and demonstrate the importance of maintaining DEI principles within Landscape Architecture practice.
Texas DEI Committee supports National ASLA’s Racial Equity Five-point Plan of Action. ASLA rejects bigotry and racism in all its forms, and anti-Black racism in particular, as wrong and fundamentally inconsistent with our mission and values.
